Consolidation in the presence of sorption and consolidation-induced advection

چکیده
13 For solute transport in a deformable clay liner, the importance of consolidation 14 in the presence of sorption and consolidation-induced advection are well known. 15 Here a one-dimensional coupled consolidation and solute transport model for a 16 partially saturated porous medium, including the new features of finite strain and 17 geometric and material nonlinearity, is proposed. A new boundary condition at the 18 compacted clay liner (CCL) base is also introduced. A comprehensive compar19 ison demonstrates the significance of finite strain, compressibility of pore water 20 (CPW), longitudinal dispersion (LD) and the degree of saturation on the solute 21 transport in an unsaturated porous medium. 22 Consolidation in the presence of sorption and consolidation-induced advection 23 both affect solute transport in a deformable clay liner. Here, a one-dimensional 24 coupled consolidation and solute transport model for a nearly saturated porous 25 medium, including finite strain and geometric and material nonlinearity, was pro26 Preprint submitted to Journal of Hydrology November 20, 2012 posed. A new boundary condition at the compacted clay liner base was also in27 troduced. The model demonstrates the significance of finite strain, pore water 28 compressibility, dispersion and the degree of saturation on solute transport in an 29 unsaturated, consolidating porous medium. 30

Early and late consolidation and reconsolidation of memory in the prelimbic cortex
Rats can learn to forage among olfactory cues to associate one with reward in only 3 massed trials. The learning is achieved in less than 10 min and results in a memory trace lasting at least 1wk week. To study the neuro-anatomical circuits involved in the memory formation we used immunoreactivity to the immediate early gene c-fos as a marker for neuronal activity induced by the learning. The p...

There are multiple neurotransmitters and neuromodulator systems mediating memory formation among which the endocannabinoid system plays a critical role in the memory formation by modulating the release of many neurotransmitters. Nucleus accumbens appears to have a site in the central of neuronal circuits of the limbic system and to be responsible for the integration and consolidation of inputs ...

متن کاملEffects of Degree of Consolidation and Anisotropic Consolidation Stresses on Shear Modulus and Damping Ratio of Cohesive Soils at Low Strain
During consolidation process of saturated cohesive soil the soil stiffness increases. Increase of the effective stress due to dissipation of excess pore pressure causes additional stiffness of soil mass. This phenomenon has a very important effect on the behavior of saturated cohesive soils during dynamic loading. In the current investigation the changes in maximum shear modulus. Gmax and dampi...
